Ron Loveland,
Director - Sustainable Energy & Industry Wales,
Welsh Assembly Government
Speaker Bio |
| |
Against the Wales Government's almost unique legal duty to promote sustainable development and its determination to be in the vanguard of tackling climate change, Ron Loveland’s energy and industrial pollution-prevention policy teams are engaged in championing a rapid transition in Wales to a low carbon, clean and sustainable economy.
That is an economy, which as well as being based on high levels of energy efficiency, micro-generation and minimal pollution(including noise), is also focused on maximising the use of Wales tremendous natural renewable energy resources and building on Wales traditional fossil-fuel energy and industry strengths through encouraging them to evolve rapidly onto new, clean low-carbon pathways.
Ron, after an initial solid-state physics research and consultancy career, followed by 10 years in UK Government- in the Health and Safety Executive and Department of Trade and Industry- has been deeply involved in facilitating innovation, enterprise and clean energy developments in Wales for the past 20 years: first, in the Welsh Development Agency as the director of Wales Innovation and Technology(WINtech),then in the old Welsh Office and more recently as Chief Technology Officer and now as head of "Sustainable Energy and Industry Wales" in the Welsh Assembly Government.
